Retro Desk Re-do

this is one of my favorite furniture projects yet. took FOREVER. but it was worth it!

Process: The Bathroom

when jay and i moved into the eco-village apartment, we painted the entire thing. my favorite room is the bathroom. i feel like the bathroom can be a little more experimental when it comes to color than any other room. it's small, it has a bunch of fixtures, you can get bold and not ruin a whole room. it also has a lot of light, so the dark walls don't make it feel like a cave. i had fun with this one. been meaning to post this for 6 months now!

Kitchen Sink: Before and After

faucet on left was rusted on good, circa 1960. had to remove the entire sink to hack off the attachments. that was fun, sheesh! then i decided to remove the broken garbage disposal at the same time, so again this took many hours and a new drain pipe later to finish. (all with help from jay!) "new" faucet on the right was found (and free!) on a sink in the back yard that someone had left. the sprayer leaks, which is a bummer, but it's about an $80 faucet head, so i was happy to have found it!

Bathroom Sink: Before and After

faucet on the left was circa 1960, it was getting old! the new one is a little more fancy and helps make the bathroom feel a wee bit more updated. i even replaced the drain with a new pop up fixture which was a pain in the bum, but it looks nice! plumbing projects always take way longer than you think!

Process: The Kitchen

Process: The Kitchen
fresh direct .mp4

some of you know that i now live in a place that is accepting of power tools and working spaces, the san mateo eco-village. i have a little space out on our landing that i can do all this work. it's great! so this is our kitchen that i'm almost done refinishing. stripped the paint off all the cabinet faces and hardware, painted the molding. it's looking pretty darn fresh. i love that i finally have an outlet that i can make things and get my hands dirty again.
